The History of Murphytown

Back in the 90’s we jumped onto the web. The Net was no stranger to us (even then), so being engineering types, we tinkered with our first web page just for the fun of it. It was a simple straight up HTML site off of our ISP account. As with anyone who has a web page, the question arises…
What do we call it?
The answer we found was on the side of a little ceramic train station that my mother-in-law had made for us.  In fact, she had made us an entire ceramic village over the years (little by little) for our train tables that we set up each Christmas.  Every town must have a name of course, and our little train station introduced the Christmas visitor to
“Murphytown”
Thus, our home page had a name as well.
As the years zoomed by, I tinkered with varying wysiwyg tools (again more of a hobby than anything offical) and in this ever-changing world, It became apparent that it was time to have that permanent place on the web. Thus the Murphytown.net domain name was born in early 2000.
I still rotate our seasonal themes and tinker with various tools and have now decided to build the site to be mobile friendly. Nothing fancy. Like our intro says “A regular Home Page by regular people”.
